Dormitory Cooking (Mass Cooking)

The food that one eats has to be pure, free from the subtle evils radiated by the persons who collect the materials, who cook the dishes and who serve them – BABA

The Dormitory Cooking project, started in 2011, serves 500 meals cooked on-site at a migrant workers’ dormitory by Sai volunteers. It is a wonderful experience for the volunteers, working together to lovingly prepare a pure and wholesome vegetarian meal.

Migrant workers are critical to building infrastructure in Singapore. They work long hours, under tough conditions and live in special dormitories. They generally cook their own basic meals.

This volunteer project involves tremendous teamwork. During the cooking process, bhajans keep playing in the background. Our volunteers look forward to participating in this very rewarding seva, which is undertaken once a month.
